Josephine, who has been part of our project since the early days, would love to accomplish her A-Level at a competitive school in terms of educational standards so that she can study electrical engineering afterwards.

As part of this, we are looking for sponsors who would like to support an ambitious and hard-working student on her way to university!

Josephine needs a monthly amount of 50 € to cover school fees, school materials and travel expenses.

The total cost of the 2-years A-Level will be 1.200 €.

Josephine and the entire team of HFH would be grateful if you supported her with any amount you would like to invest in her future, no matter how small or large, one-time or even regular support, in order to guarantee the best possible future chances!

In March we received a private donation in the amount of 900 Euro.

We had planned to use this money to open up a shop which is designed to engage the parents of the children in HFH e.V. to work in a team to create an income that can enable them get better housing for their children.

We are happy to let you know that the HFH e.V. shop project is now set and runs well, thanks to our supporters. In April we were able to rent a shop for our stock. We were also able to bring the second hand clothes from Germany to act as starting stock for the shop. We acquired racks and also purchased some bags of rice to start up our shop. See pictures here.

In April, we were able to see for ourselves the progress of our project.

First of all we observed our school gardens which were able to survive the long draught which had hit Uganda in the previous months and is still activly used by teachers and pupils.

We have also created a manual cooking bricklet machine.
Those bricklets consume 60% less energy than the charcoal which is usually used for cooking and are also more environmentally friendly.
We use agricultural and household waste such as rice peels, coffee peels, banana peels, clay, cow dung etc. to make our bricklets leading almost all kinds of waste in green energy.
The biomass bricklets burn hotter and cleaner, are cheaper to buy, and much easier to store and handle.
So we believe that if more people with open fire and wood oven use bricklets to cook in their homes, this will have a positive impact on the health of women and children who are most of the time in the kitchen and also to protect our environment. See pictures here.

Furthermore we organized an organizational meeting with all parents and children of Hope for Helpless e.V. on April 2nd.
We have responded to the various concerns of all participants and discussed plans and projects for the future.
Finally the kids presented their drumming skills and we all had a small snack. See pictures here.

Dear friends and supporters,

the past few weeks at Hope for Helpless have been quite eventful.

We have completed our two new offices, of which one now serves as a computer and crafts room, the second one as a learning and playing room.

Additionally, we welcomed a new intern at HFH in the end of February, who invested donations she had collected in Germany for renovating the blackboards at New Bubajjwe Nursery and Primary School that have been in need of restoration for a long time. She also took our kids on a trip to the zoo in Entebbe, where everyone had great fun!

Thanks a lot for this!

We as well strengthened our focus of environmental awareness in the last few weeks. First of all our intern carried out workshops about plastic waste reduction, during which the children decorated cloth bags which are now going to be used as shopping bags instead of plastic bags. Secondly, we created a schoolgarden at New Bubajjwe Nursery and Primary School and on the compound of HFH, which will enhance the diet of the children in the future. (Get some impressions here.)

After this good start, we are looking forward to more interesting events this year!
